New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep gratitude after being conferred with Ethiopia’s highest civilian award, the “Grand Honour – Nishan of Ethiopia”, by the Ethiopian government and its people. Calling it a matter of immense pride, the Prime Minister said the honour reflects the enduring friendship between the two nations.
In his remarks, Prime Minister Modi stated that receiving such recognition from Ethiopia—one of the world’s oldest and richest civilizations—was not merely a personal achievement. He dedicated the award to the countless Indians who have played a vital role over the years in strengthening and enriching India–Ethiopia relations.
The Prime Minister further noted that the honour symbolises the historic ties, mutual cooperation and deep-rooted friendship shared by India and Ethiopia. He emphasised that the award stands as a testament to the collective efforts of both countries in fostering goodwill and collaboration across various sectors.
